National Volunteer Appreciation Week

As National Volunteer Week approaches from April 14 to 20, we would like to express gratitude to our invaluable volunteers who have contributed their time and skills to the library.

In 2023, we were fortunate to have 91 dedicated volunteers who collectively offered over 2,100 hours of their time to support various activities and programs.

Library Volunteer Contributions:

  • Volunteers help in multiple ways at the library and within the community, including:

    • Maintaining library collections
    • Enabling seniors in retirement and long-term care residences to access library services
    • Keeping skates in good repair and ready for use at the Eastside Branch and McCormick Branch
    • Cultivating a community garden
    • Enriching the lives of language learners through conversation circles
    • Supporting family and community programs led by energetic teens
  • Six outstanding library volunteers will be receiving Ontario Service Awards, alongside Community Builder recognition from the City of Waterloo, for their years of service ranging between 5 and 25 years.

This National Volunteer Week we extend our heartfelt gratitude to all of our volunteers for their exceptional contributions that help enrich the lives of countless individuals in the community.
